The Moroccan Organization for Human Rights and Anti-Corruption has expressed deep concern over the growing phenomenon of homelessness, highlighting the severe violations of fundamental rights faced by individuals who find themselves outside the protection of social and economic systems. In a statement, the organization emphasized that the right to live with dignity is a non-negotiable, basic human right. It underscored that homeless individuals remain full citizens with rights that should not be marginalized or denied. The organization also noted the precarious conditions of the homeless, including lack of shelter, healthcare, and social exclusion, which undermine the core of human dignity, necessitating immediate and comprehensive intervention from the relevant authorities. The group called for an integrated public policy to address homelessness, based on human rights and humanitarian principles, and stressed the importance of ensuring access to essential services, including health, housing, and social protection. Additionally, it advocated for preventative measures targeting the root causes of homelessness such as poverty, vulnerability, and exclusion, stating that the protection of vulnerable groups, particularly the homeless, is a true test of respect for human rights and social justice.
