Morocco and Ecuador are set to further strengthen their diplomatic and economic ties, with the Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, announcing plans to open a Moroccan embassy in Ecuador’s capital in September, following Ecuador’s recent establishment of its own embassy in Rabat. Bourita emphasized Ecuador’s role as a key ally in Latin America, highlighting the efforts of Gabriela Sommerfeld in influencing regional positions on the Western Sahara issue. On the economic front, both countries are preparing to sign an agreement to create a joint committee aimed at boosting trade and investment, as well as establishing legal frameworks to protect investments and prevent double taxation. Bourita also noted the countries’ collaboration in international organizations such as the United Nations Security Council, where they support each other’s candidacies. The foreign minister concluded that the bilateral relations, supported by the leadership of both nations, are at their best and poised for further growth in sectors including logistics, economy, security, politics, and culture.
